About
Hi, and thanks for dropping by. If you are a middle-aged, single parent of an about-to-be-teenage boy, who knows a whole lot more about self-care and stress management than you’ve been practicing, and you are looking for some bread crumbs along the trail back to a healthy existence, this may be the place for you!
I’ve described myself pretty well in the paragraph above, although I’ve certainly only touched on the immediate circumstances of my life. Here are a few other highlights:
- once rode 100 miles on a bicycle in one day – took me 8 hours and 45 minutes
- was vegetarian for several years, until a road trip from Nebraska to Texas with a 2-year old knocked us off the wagon
- used to work as a biofeedback therapist teaching other people how to relax (and was pretty good at it myself then, made easier by the fact that I was childless at the time)
- now work as a hospice social worker, a job I love, and which isn’t nearly as stressful as you think
- infoholic for sure – I could probably have started a small bookstore with all the books I’ve given away over the years
- actually once worked in a bookstore, but had trouble taking any money home, since I spent most of it at work
- am a natural-born recommender – if I find something I love or that works for me, I can’t stop myself from telling everyone I know about it, too – right down to the nitrogen filling my tires because it makes the tires last longer, increases your gas mileage, and isn’t temperature-sensitive the way air in your tires is
